Patnadevi-An unexplored historical place : Part 1

Kanhergad (Chalisgaon)

In the backdrop of Hemadpanthi mahadeo temple , you will find Kanhergad. The route starts besides the temple(keeping temple at right side). Follow the well trodden route and after 3-4 minutes walk, you should get Umbrella covered Samadhi built with cement. Start ascending route till it reached to first cave Nagarjuna cave. It is beautifully carved cave with statue of Bhagvan Mahavir. Continue the route and after 5 minutes you will reach to Sita nhani cave.

Follow the further route and after 10 minutes you will reach to rock patch  of Kanhergad. Before ascending it, just follow the route which traverses further which will lead you to the Shrungar Chavadi cave. Due to time restrictions, I was unable to see that cave. Rock patch is not difficult. You will have enough grips to reach at the top. But for the safe side, I would propose to carry rope(30ft is sufficient). There is very few structures remained on the fort like water tanks, fort walls at some places, Fort entrance(West side). You will get some amazing views of Gautala sanctuary from the top.

I would like to visit this place in August for two days. we will be starting our trip from Jalgaon at 11.00 am. Please suggest how to reach Patnadevi. Should we hire car or public transport is available in this area?

    1. Hi Riddhi,
Public transport is available but if you hire a car then it will be comfortable and will save time.
To reach Patnadevi , you need to go to Chalisgaon. From Jalgaon, you will get train/bus. Train will take around 1.25 hrs to reach Chalisgaon. From Chalisgaon, you will get ST bus to reach to Patnadevi.
      Probable itinerary:
As you are leaving at 11.00am, it may take around 2.00pm to reach to Patnadevi(considering public transport). You can only see temples their. For waterfalls, you should reach in the morning so that you can spend full day in the sanctuary. Return to Chalisgaon(last bus at 6.00pm). There are lodging facilities ion Chalisgaon. Subhash lodging, Sadanand palace might be good option. It is near Bus stand.
Day 2: You will get Aurangabad bus after every 30 minutes from Chalisgaon. Try to catch up early bus. Ask conductor to stop the bus near Daulatabad fort. Enroute there is Bhadra Maruti, Ellora caves, Grushneshwar Jyotirlinga temple which you can add in your trip.If you wanted to stay for day 2 then go to Aurangabad. I am unaware about good lodging facilities but comparing to Daulatabad, you will definitely get good deal in the city. Aurangabad city is itself has many tourist attractions.
